Model-based potential analysis - identifying and raising weak points for effective and efficient development
Overview
Increasing complexity, rising competitive pressure, and the multitude of projects and tasks to be managed in parallel are forcing companies like CLAAS Industrietechnik GmbH to structure their development more efficiently and effectively and to focus their processes on the essential development work. In the project, problems and obstacles in the daily development work were uncovered and eliminated without extensive restructuring measures.
The project Model-based Potential Analysis identified weaknesses in the flow of development projects and provided structured and prioritized advice on how to eliminate the existing problems. In the process, not only were content-related, technical potentials analyzed, but a special focus was also placed on process-organizational contradictions and communication problems.
The project was carried out as a joint project between CLAAS Industrietechnik GmbH and the Heinz Nixdorf Institute. The internal initiative of CLAAS Industrietechnik GmbH was supported by the team of the Chair of Product Development around Prof. Dr.-Ing Iris Gr??ler. The potentials derived from joint workshops were prioritized on the basis of established criteria and the feasibility of solutions was discussed. To this end, the "low hanging fruits" - weak points whose elimination requires little effort but promises great benefits - were recommended for short-term elimination.
