MOVING OUT
TO DOS:
1. MAKE AN APPOINTMENT WITH THE CARETAKER
Please make an appointment with the caretaker responsible for your hall of residence at least two weeks before you move out to hand over the flat and return the keys at the same time.
Please note that the appointment with the caretaker can only take place on working days (Mon. - Fri.) and only between 8 am - 2 pm and your presence on site is required. It is NOT possible to hand over the flat at weekends or on public holidays and you CANNOT stay in the flat after you have returned the key.
Contact Caretaker Vogeliusweg
Name: Mr. Frank Schrameyer, Mr. Frank Sandforth
Office address: Vogeliusweg 18
Office hours: Mon. - Fri. 8:30 a.m. - 9:30 a.m. & 1 p.m. - 2 p.m.
2. FLAT CLEANING
The caretaker checks the entire flat every time someone moves out. In order to save you additional costs, the following points should be taken care of before you move out:
- Leave your own room swept clean - remove your belongings from your room, dispose of rubbish and sweep.
- Clean the shared rooms thoroughly (kitchen, bathroom, corridor...).
PLEASE NOTE: The cleaning of shared rooms must be carried out by all flatmates together. Get together with your flatmates in good time and agree who will do what. The costs for subsequent cleaning due to a lack of cleanliness can be up to 300 € (prices are subject to change) and will be charged to all flatmates equally.
3. FLAT CHECK AN HANDOVER OF KEYS
On the date agreed with the caretaker, he will inspect your flat in your presence. Both your room and the shared rooms will be checked for cleanliness and damage. The condition of the flat will then be recorded in a handover protocol, which you must sign. Your bank account details from your home country will also be noted on the handover report so that the remaining deposit can be transferred later. Therefore, please have your account details ready when handing over the flat and ask the caretaker to give you a copy of the protocol or to take a photo of it.
When the flat inspection is finished, the caretaker will ask you to hand over the key. It is then no longer possible to stay in your room.
4. DEPOSIT
When you move out, there is always a fee 110 € (prices are subject to change) for a final professional cleaning of your room by a company. The amount will be deducted from your deposit. The rest of the deposit will be refunded provided you have left the flat clean, not in need of painting and there is no damage.
You will receive the money by bank transfer to the account you have given to STW. Please note that, for administrative reasons, it may take up to 6 - 8 weeks after you have moved out for the money to be transferred. A cash payment is only possible in exceptional cases and in consultation with STW.
5. DONATING ITEMS
If you would like to donate any items, such as household goods in good condition, please contact Eurobiz (see Contacts). They will be grateful for any donations to pass on for free to other students.
6. STORAGE OF LUGGAGE
When planning your departure, please bear in mind that it is not possible to store luggage in your student residence after you have moved out of your flat.
7. LEFT BELONGINGS
University residences do not send on items left behind by students when they move out. Please therefore make sure that you leave nothing behind in your flat.
