The 3rd TRR 318 conference "Contextualising Explanations" (ContEx25) will take place at Bielefeld University on 17/18 May. The international and interdisciplinary event will focus on the question of how explanations of AI processes can be contextualised for users in order to give them more understanding and control over the processes and create transparency.

Such explanations should give users a sense of self-determination and enable them not only to better understand decisions based on AI, but also - if necessary - to challenge or overrule them. The keynote speakers on this topic will be Prof Angelo Cangelosi (University of Manchester), Prof Virginia Dignum (Ume? University) and Dr Kacper Sokol (ETH Zurich).

Registration for the conference is free of charge and possible until 1 June. More information can be found on the event page.

TRR 318 "Constructing Explainability"

The Collaborative Research Centre/Transregio "Constructing Explainability" (TRR 318) was institutionalised by the DFG at Paderborn University and Bielefeld University in 2021 and deals with the question of how transparency of algorithmic decisions, in particular through black-box methods of modern artificial intelligence, can be established.
