Appreciation for young parents - Paderborn University restocks parental packages

Paderborn University is once again emphasising its family-friendly focus: the popular parental packages for students and employees have been filled with new, high-quality content. The parcels, which are lovingly painted by the Paderborn University Kids (PUKi) from the university's emergency and short-term childcare centre, have been presented to young parents since 2008.

In addition to a congratulatory letter from the university management and brochures and flyers with information about the university's family-friendly services, parents have so far been able to look forward to a cosy blanket and a bib. From now on, the packages will include a dummy band, a warm toddler zip hoodie and a cosy cuddly blanket - all bearing the university logo. "With the parent packs, we want to cater to the needs of parents: Be it in the form of useful information about being a parent at our university, or also with very practical utensils. The packages are intended to underline our appreciation and also our affiliation to our family-friendly university," explains Dr Annika Hegemann, Equal Opportunities Officer at Paderborn University.

Paderborn University employees will receive the parental packs from the Human Resources Department, while student parents will receive them from the Family Services Office in room E2.101. Prior registration is recommended. With this initiative, Paderborn University is reaffirming its commitment to creating a family-friendly working and study environment, recognising young parents in their new role and supporting them with regard to the compatibility of family, studies and career. Further information can be found on the website of the Family Service Office.
