Anywhere - real-time tools to improve response to extreme weather events

Overview

The goal of the ANYWHERE project is to develop real-time tools to improve the response capabilities of public authorities, businesses and the general public to extreme weather events. For this purpose, a Europe-wide platform with algorithms for forecasting and assessing the resulting risks was developed. This is intended to strengthen the authorities' ability to act. One key to this is increasing the self-protection of companies and the population. The platform is to serve as a basis for integration into intelligent, overall technical solutions by innovative companies.

Through ANYWHERE, companies will be empowered to offer innovative and economically viable services, not only in disaster management. The broad availability of services via third-party solutions will sustainably increase the self-protection of the population and companies. Companies are thus able, for example, to minimize the risks of the effects of extreme weather events.

The Product Development Group coordinated the development of Intelligent Technical Systems in four case studies. These validate the benefits in terms of self-protection. By implementing an information platform and adapting the scenario technique as a tool for strategic planning, third-party providers are enabled to identify market opportunities for their own technical solutions and to exploit potentials to the best possible extent. For this purpose, the scenario technique will be further developed and optimized for use by start-ups and SMEs.
