Overview
TANDEM is a project undertaken by the Chair of Business Education II (Prof. Dr. Beutner) together with the Professorship of Business Education, in particular Media Didactics and Further Education (Prof. Dr. Kremer) as part of the cevet - centre for vocational education and training at the University of Paderborn.
The TANDEM project brings together correctional facilities and vocational colleges in four regional tandems with the aim of supporting young offenders (21- to 26-year-old inmates) in their ability to train, find employment and learn new skills, as well as to empower them to lead a responsible and non-violent lifestyle. The TANDEM project is part of the federal program “XENOS - Integration and Diversity”.
The project is funded by the European Social Fund and the Federal Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs during its term from October 1, 2009 to May 31, 2012. The four regional tandems are formed by the JVA Aachen with the Vocational College for Nutrition, Social Services and Technology of the Heinsberg district in Geilenkirchen, the JVA Bielefeld-Senne with the Carl-Miele-Berufskolleg Gütersloh, the JVA Gelsenkirchen with the Eduard-Spranger-Berufskolleg Gelsenkirchen and the JVA Schwerte with the Cuno-Berufskolleg II.
Other cooperation partners from North Rhine-Westphalia include the Ministry of Schools and Further Education, the Ministry of Justice, the Criminological Service and the office for EU projects and vocational training of the district government of Düsseldorf. This has enabled the cevet network to be further expanded and existing partnerships to be strengthened.
