The Paderborn University is a member of the Verbund NRW Hochschul-IP (HIP). The network for intellectual property (IP) promotes knowledge and technology transfer in business and society. The network partners use synergies and jointly develop innovation potential.

The patent officers advise inventors on site, organise subject-specific information events and support the universities conceptually in developing their patent and exploitation strategies. The long-term goal is to increase the number and quality of inventions at all NRW universities and to strengthen the cooperation between science and industry by promoting exploitation activities.
