BMBF research project ?OptiAMix“ starts at the Paderborn University

In January 2017 the research project “OptiAMix” started at the Paderborn University, funded with 2.54 Mio. Euro by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF), in which the the DMRC is involved with four Chairs. Together with four industrial companies, leaded by the Krause DiMaTec GmbH, the project achieves a total volume of 4.4 Mio. Euro. Partners on the part of the DMRC are the Chairs C.I.K., KAt, LiA and HNI-PE. The research project is coordinated by Prof. Dr.-Ing. Rainer Koch, Chair of Computer Application and Integration in Design and Planning (C.I.K.).

The aim of this project is the multi-objective and continuous, automated component development for the additive manufacturing process in the whole product development process. In order to achieve a multi-objective optimization with regard to diverging factors, such as low costs or load-balanced design, a new software tool for production-oriented, post-processing-oriented, load-balanced and cost-effective design of components will be developed and combined with existing tools. Thus, increasing product complexity can be mastered and a high level of data security will be ensured. At the same time methods will be developed and consolidated with which relevant information can be generated and used; these include, for example, the trade-off analysis for additive manufacturing, design guidelines as well as process and material characteristics, which are required for requirements-based and automated design and thus shorten the designing process significantly.

Beside the Krause DiMaTec GmbH and the participating chairs, the entire consortium consists of the companies EDAG Engineering GmbH, Hirschvogel Tech Solutions, INTES GmbH and WP Kemper GmbH. In addition, the project is supported by the mechanical engineering associations VDMA and FVA.
