  • Help them to improve their German language skills

Then become a buddy for refugee students at Paderborn University

 

 

The Pro­gramme

  • Paderborn University's Refugee-Buddy-Programme connects refugee students who are orientating themselves in a new environment and getting off to a fresh start with committed Paderborn students.
     
  • Refugee students receive help from their Buddies in learning German, for example in the form of everyday conversations or joint activities, etc. 
     
  • The aim is to build a sustainable network that promotes intercultural exchange, breaks down language barriers and makes it easier for refugees to enter academic and social life.
  • An expansion of the social network through refugee students and other buddies
     
  • Valuable insights into other cultures
     
  • Participation in university events
     
  • Official certificate of volunteer work 
     
  • Potentially long-term friendships
     
  • ECTS for completed tandem work (in planning)
  • Communication partner for learning the German language
     
  • Contact person for general questions from refugees
     
  • Assistance with administrative procedures (e.g. registration office, health insurance)
     
  • University-related support (e.g. registering for courses, finding the right contact)
     
  • Tips for everyday life (e.g. shopping facilities, public transport, etc.)
     
  • Involvement in student life (e.g. participation in university events)
