Information on the processing of your personal data in the context of events of the Office of Academic Career Development / Jenny Aloni Centre for Early Career Researchers of Paderborn University (JAC) pursuant to Art. 13 GDPR
This data protection information describes the processing of your personal data in the context of events organised by the JAC. It fulfils Paderborn University's obligation to provide information in accordance with Art. 13 of the EU General Data Protection Regulation (hereinafter: GDPR). With regard to the terms used in the following, e.g. "personal data", "processing", "controller", etc., reference is made to the definitions in Art. 4 of the GDPR and Art. 6 para. 1 lit. a) GDPR.

2 Data categories, purposes and legal bases of processing
The following of your personal data are processed by Paderborn University in the present processing activity:
- Surname
- First name
- E-mail address
- Faculty
- Other comments, if applicable
- Log data of the online registration
- If applicable, further personal data in the context of the realisation and follow-up of the event
The purposes of processing your personal data are
- Registration, realisation, follow-up (incl. evaluation) of JAC events
- Photos during the event and their publication on the Paderborn University website and social media channels
- Use of your contact details for information about future JAC offers, including enrolment in the JAC digital newsletter
The legal basis for the processing of your personal data in the context of the above-mentioned processing activities is your consent in accordance with Art. 6 para. 1 subpara. 1 lit. a) GDPR (if applicable, Art. 88 GDPR in conjunction with § 18 para. 1 DSG NRW).
For the publication of recordings (photo/video), § 22 KUG, § 5 para. 7 DSG NRW applies.
3. data transmission
Your personal data, which is processed by Paderborn University in the course of carrying out the above-mentioned processing activity/activities , will not be passed on to third parties without your consent.
Excerpts of your personal data (e.g. participant lists) may be passed on to the lecturers / moderators for the organisation and follow-up of the events. Subject to your consent, photographs may be used for press coverage and announcements of other JAC events on the websites, social media channels and flyers of Paderborn University.
4 Duration of the storage of your personal data
If and insofar as the processing of your personal data is based on your consent, your personal data will only be stored until you revoke your declaration of consent, unless there is another legal basis for the processing (Art. 17 para. 1 lit. b) GDPR).
Personal data will be anonymised after the event, but after one year at the latest. The storage is based on the guidelines on the storage, archiving and destruction of documents of Paderborn University (Amtliche Mitteilungen 63.21), Paderborn 2021 (here: events). If necessary, documents are taken over by the University Archives and generally stored there indefinitely.
5 Your rights as a data subject
As a data subject, you can assert the rights granted to you by the GDPR at any time; these are
- the right to information as to whether and which of your data is being processed in accordance with Art. 15 GDPR, Section 12 DSG NRW;
- the right to rectification or completion of data concerning you in accordance with Art. 16 GDPR
- the right to erasure of the data concerning you in accordance with Art. 17 GDPR, § 10 DSG NRW;
- the right to obtain restriction of processing concerning you in accordance with Art. 18 GDPR
- the right to data portability of the data concerning you in accordance with Art. 20 GDPR
6. revocability of your consent
You can revoke your consent in whole or in part at any time without giving reasons. The revocation does not affect the legality of the processing carried out on the basis of the consent until the revocation (Art. 7 para. 3 GDPR). As a result, we may no longer continue the data processing based on this consent in the future. If you wish to revoke your consent in whole or in part, simply send an email to earlycareer(at)upb(dot)de or datenschutz(at)uni-paderborn University(dot)de with a subject line.
Please note that it is no longer possible to delete your data or to change or view your personal data due to the anonymisation of your data one year after the event.
7. right to lodge a complaint
In addition to the rights mentioned above, you have the right to lodge a complaint with the data protection supervisory authority (Art. 77 GDPR) if you believe that the processing of personal data concerning you violates data protection requirements; for example, with the State Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information of North Rhine-Westphalia, Kavalleriestr. 2-4, 40213 Düsseldorf, telephone: 0211/38424-0, e-mail: poststelle(at)ldi.nrw(dot)de.
