EU-StORe - Creating European Standards for Open Education and Open Learning Resources

EU-StORe is an ERASMUS+ project whose basic idea was developed by the Chair of Business Education II at Paderborn University and is submitted and coordinated by our Romanian partners at the University Lucian Blaga in Sibiu, Romania. The project is embedded in the 'Strategic Partnerships' action with a focus on Vocational Education and Training (VET) and is anchored in the EU education program as an internationally oriented project. The EU-StORe project will run for 24 months.

Seven institutions are cooperating with four partners from six countries in EU-StORe: Great Britain, Ireland, Italy, Malta, Romania and Germany. The partnership includes four universities, a technology partner, a small and medium-sized enterprise in the education sector and a regional development institution.

The work in the project is based on the considerations of J. M. Pawlowski and the EU according to Pawlowski's vision paper 'Open Education 2030' (cf. Pawlowski 2013, p. 78) in which he makes the following six proposals (cf. Pawloski 2013):

1. Creation of a directory or inventory of OER/OEP
2. Integration of existing communities
3. Integration of syllabuses/curricula
4. Creation of regional networks
5. Creation of global outreach programs
6. Support for the Open Education Policy
7. 
   

In the EU-StORe project, a corresponding inventory and directory is being compiled. In addition, experts analyze the materials and courses found and create standards for high-quality open learning activities. This leads to guidelines and standards that can be used

(a) to create open learning scenarios in the future and

(b) to evaluate existing open learning activities and resources. Special attention will be paid to the area of vocational education and training, as the link to the education system and the labor market are of particular interest here.
